Research
My research focuses on the molecular epidemiology of viral diseases affecting swine production systems. I am particularly interested in the genetic diversity, evolution, and transmission dynamics of Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome Virus (PRRSV) and Porcine Circovirus type 2 (PCV2).
My work integrates molecular virology, epidemiological analysis, field data from commercial swine farms, molecular surveillance, genomic surveillance, and epidemiological data visualization to better understand pathogen circulation and support disease control strategies in pig production systems.
As part of this approach, I develop web-based tools such as DiseasesMapMx, a genomic surveillance and epidemiological data visualization platform for PRRSV and PCV2 in swine populations .
Related research areas: swine molecular epidemiology, epidemiología molecular porcina, vigilancia molecular porcina, vigilancia genómica porcina, PRRSV molecular epidemiology, PCV2 genetic characterization, swine pathogen surveillance, and epidemiological data visualization.
Applied Work
I am also the founder of EPISUIS, an independent initiative focused on epidemiology-driven solutions for swine production systems, integrating health, production, and data analysis to support decision-making in commercial farms. Go to EPISUIS.
