About PRRSV
Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome Virus (PRRSV) is one of the most economically important pathogens affecting swine production worldwide. The virus is characterized by high genetic variability, rapid evolution, and emergence of multiple lineages associated with endemic circulation, vaccine-derived strains, and recombination events.
Objectives of Surveillance
- Monitor spatial and temporal distribution of PRRSV.
- Identify circulating lineages and RFLP patterns.
- Support epidemiological investigations.
- Detect emerging variants and recombinant strains.
- Contribute to regional disease control strategies.
Current Dataset
The current version of DiseasesMapMx integrates genomic and epidemiological metadata from PRRSV sequences collected in Jalisco, Mexico, including:
- Municipality
- Region
- Production stage
- Lineage classification
- RFLP pattern
- Detection method
- Gene target
- Vaccination status
